Summit Rock - Horseshoe Bay Resort

Est. 2012 · Jack Nicklaus (Signature; Chet Williams, lead designer)
Why we love this place

We love Summit Rock for its hilltop drama above Lake LBJ. Jack Nicklaus gave the members big elevation swings, drivable par 4s and reachable par 5s, so a round here mixes Hill Country scenery with plenty of chances to swing for something memorable.

About Summit Rock - Horseshoe Bay Resort

Summit Rock is the only Jack Nicklaus Signature course at Horseshoe Bay Resort and its only private, members-only layout. Construction began in 2006 but the recession and regional drought delayed it; Nicklaus officially opened the course with a playing exhibition on October 30, 2012. The par-72 course stretches to roughly 7,250 yards on about 200 acres of a 1,600-acre hilltop community above Lake LBJ, with large elevation changes, drivable par 4s and reachable par 5s. Its clubhouse was recognized in Golf Inc.'s 2026 Clubhouse of the Year honors.
