About East Potomac Blue Course

The Blue Course is the 18-hole championship loop at East Potomac Park, laid out by Walter J. Travis and built between 1918 and 1923, originally as a reversible routing that now plays one way. It hosted the USGA's Amateur Public Links in 1923. The facility was also the site of the 1941 effort by Black golfers to play the capital's public courses, when Interior Secretary Harold Ickes granted them access after they were attacked with stones.
