Est. 1929 · George Salling
Why we love this place
Lake Morey is the Vermont Open's longtime home, and it earns the role: a flat, tidy front nine, then a back nine that climbs into the hills for big views over the lake. Pair a round with a stay at the resort and you have a classic Vermont weekend.

About Lake Morey Golf Course
Lake Morey Country Club sits beside the lake of the same name in Fairlee, part of the Lake Morey Resort on the Vermont side of the upper Connecticut River valley. The course's full 18 holes have been in play since 1929, and GolfPass credits the design to George Salling. The club says the layout was redesigned in 1989 into its current form, a par 70 of 6,024 yards whose front nine is fairly flat while the back nine climbs into hilly terrain with wide views. Sand, water and well-guarded greens set the challenge. Lake Morey's biggest claim is its long run as the home of the Vermont Open, which the club says it has hosted for more than 50 years; published results list it as the venue in nearly every year since 1955, and the 2026 championship is scheduled there again.
