Est. 1931 · Robert J. Ross (Red nine, 1931); Orrin Smith (White nine, 1958)
Why we love this place
We love Stanley for doing what a great muni should: three nines, plenty of tee times and real variety for a city full of golfers. This White and Red pairing mixes a gentle, walkable nine with the tree-lined, pond-guarded holes of the 1931 original, at a price that keeps New Britain playing.

About Stanley Golf Course - White And Red
Stanley Golf Course is New Britain's municipal golf facility on Hartford Road, a 27-hole complex made up of three nines, the Red, the White and the Blue, that can be paired into three different eighteens. The original eighteen, today's Red and Blue nines, opened in 1931 to a design credited to Robert J. Ross. The White nine was added in 1958, designed by Orrin E. Smith, giving the city a third loop and the flexibility to handle heavy public demand. This White and Red pairing joins Smith's mostly flat and very walkable White nine, about 3,000 yards with no water hazards but several sand bunkers, with the older Red nine, where tree-lined fairways, a few elevated tees and ponds that come into play on the original holes give Ross's routing its character. The facility serves a busy calendar of leagues, events and tournaments, and it recently added a covered driving range with nineteen bays powered by Toptracer technology.
