Est. 2003 · Pete Dye (with Tim Liddy)
Why we love this place
We love that a Pete Dye original sits on a town-owned muni where anyone can walk on and play. Wintonbury Hills gives you Dye's clever angles and bold shaping without a resort price, plus open links-like holes and wooded stretches that keep every round interesting. A true public gem for Hartford-area golfers.

About Wintonbury Hills Golf Course
Wintonbury Hills grew out of the Town of Bloomfield's plan for a municipal course on about eighty acres of wetland and forest beside the town's water-retention reservoir, ground sensitive enough that the project needed extensive permitting before construction could start. Pete Dye produced the design with his longtime associate Tim Liddy, who turned Dye's field notes and rough sketches into detailed plans, and the course first opened for play in 2003. It was Dye's first championship design in New England and remains the only public Pete Dye course in the region. The par-70 layout, roughly 6,700 yards from the back tees, was built as a walking course with greens and tees set close together, and it mixes open, links-like holes with traditional tree-lined ones; the fourteenth runs along the reservoir. The town-owned course drew strong reviews from publications soon after it opened and has stayed among Connecticut's most highly rated public courses.
