Est. 1997 · Gene Bates
Why we love this place
Green Mountain National is mountain golf with real teeth: Gene Bates carved it through dense Killington woods with elevation changes on nearly every hole and greens that demand respect. A town-owned course good enough for the New England Amateur, and a beauty in fall color.

About Green Mountain National Golf Course
Green Mountain National Golf Course opened in 1997 in Killington, set in dense woodland near the Killington ski area, and it was the first municipal course to open in Vermont. Owned and operated by the town of Killington, it was conceived to draw visitors to the resort town outside ski season. Gene Bates designed the layout across a rugged 234-acre site, with tree-lined fairways and elevation changes on almost every hole; it stretches to 6,589 yards from the tips and plays to par 71. Standout holes include the 402-yard third, with a creek 50 yards short of the green, the 151-yard seventh with a ridge running through its green, and the 394-yard twelfth, a dogleg to a three-tiered green 40 yards deep. Green Mountain National hosted the Vermont Amateur in 2012 and the New England Amateur in 2013.
