Why we love this place
The Monster is back, and it is a beast worth taming. Rees Jones rebuilt a Catskills legend into a big, modern championship course with six sets of tees, so everyone can enjoy the drama. A bucket-list revival two hours from Manhattan.

About The Monster Golf Club at Resorts World Catskills
The Monster first opened in 1963 at the Concord resort in Sullivan County, in the heart of the Catskills. Designed by Joe Finger, the long and demanding course built a national reputation and was once listed among Golf Digest's 100 greatest courses in America. As the old Catskills resort era faded, the course declined, and it closed for play in 2015. Resorts World Catskills, the casino resort developed on the former Concord property, then invested about $40 million in a rebuild led by Rees Jones. Over nearly five years Jones created a new 18-hole routing, reusing holes and corridors from the old Monster and from the resort's Old International Course. The result plays to 7,650 yards and par 72 from the back tees, but six sets of tees make it far more approachable than its name suggests. The Monster reopened for public play in 2023, with Troon managing the operation.
