Est. 1926 · Devereux Emmet; second nine by Geoffrey Cornish
Why we love this place
A college course with Golden Age pedigree: Devereux Emmet's 1926 nine, rounded out by Geoffrey Cornish, now celebrating its centennial in the North Country. We love that students and visitors share the same classic, walkable test right beside the St. Lawrence campus.

About St. Lawrence University Oliver D. Appleton Gc
The Oliver D. Appleton Golf Course at St. Lawrence University began in 1926 as a nine-hole course designed by Devereux Emmet, the Long Island architect behind many Golden Age layouts across New York. The course sits beside the university campus in Canton, in the St. Lawrence Valley of the North Country. It later grew to a full eighteen holes when Geoffrey Cornish, one of the most prolific architects of the postwar era, added a second nine. The par-72 course plays from about 6,700 yards at the championship tees down to about 5,000 yards at the forward tees. It serves as home course for the university's golf teams while welcoming daily-fee players, and it marks its 100th anniversary in 2026.
