Est. 1970 · Al Zikorus
Why we love this place
We love Timberlin as proof that a town course can anchor a whole community. Al Zikorus's layout is fair for weekend players yet sturdy enough for state championships, high school teams call it home, and the Connecticut PGA has honored how it's run. Affordable, busy and genuinely well loved.

About Timberlin Golf Club
Timberlin Golf Club was constructed in 1970 as the Town of Berlin's municipal course, built on Southington Road to a design by Connecticut architect Al Zikorus. Zikorus laid out an 18-hole course meant to challenge strong players while staying fair and enjoyable for everyday golfers, and over the decades it grew into one of the busiest and most respected municipal golf facilities in the state. Timberlin has long served as home course for local high school teams whose boys' and girls' programs have collected multiple CIAC state titles, and it has hosted the CIAC state championships themselves. In August 2011 it staged the 46th Connecticut Women's State Amateur Championship, and it has also hosted the Connecticut PGA Junior Championship along with USGA qualifying rounds. In 2024 the Connecticut Section PGA honored Timberlin with its Walter Lowell Award for public golf operations and player development, and a bunker renovation of roughly $1 million, designed by architect Doug Smith, is now under way.
