About Wheeler Family Traditions Golf Club
The course on Harrison Road in Wallingford opened in 1981 as Harbor Ridge Golf Course, a nine-hole layout designed by Ted Manning. A second nine followed in 1999 to make a full 18. The course later operated as The Tradition Golf Club at Wallingford, whose management team also took over Oak Lane in Woodbridge, and during that era Roger Rulewich, formerly the chief architect for Robert Trent Jones Sr., renovated it. Rulewich resculpted the greens, widened fairways, rough and tree-lined corridors, and added a continuous cart path, aiming to make the course more playable while keeping its appeal to shotmakers. Now known as Wheeler Family Traditions Golf Club, the par-70 course in northern New Haven County measures 6,120 yards from the gold tees and offers practice facilities, lessons, leagues, and the Terrace on the Green restaurant with a patio overlooking the course.
